31st- CHILDREN’S CREATIVITY CENTER:  9:30am-1:30pm-  Open every Saturday free of charge to kids accompanied by their parents, grandparents, or other adult, KidSPOT provides an opportunity for children ages 2-12 to expand creative expression and creative problem-solving — two skills that will benefit them in academic studies as well as in their journey through life.

 6th- PIZZA NIGHT CROW VINEYARD:  5-8pm:  Enjoy a variety of handmade artisan pizza’s made with fresh ingredients paired with crow vineyard wine.  $12 per person

21st- EMILY ASHNER’’S GARDEN PARTY: Mainstay 8pm: Warm up a cool night with some swinging red hot jazz brought vividly to life by these all-stars from the vibrant New York City early jazz scene. Led by Emily Asher's tenacious trombone and sweet vocals, they draw on the repertoire of Louis Armstrong's enchanting Hot Fives, Duke Ellington's sophisticated melodies, the funky and soulful music of New Orleans brass bands, and Hoagy Carmichael's masterpieces. Call for reservations. Admission is $20.

 

21st- MARYLAND WINE PASSPORT EXPERIENCE: 12:00pm-5:00pm: The Maryland Wineries Association, in partnership with local wineries and wine trails, presents Maryland Wine Passport Experience, a series of events taking place on each of Maryland’s six unique wine trails over two weekends; February 21-22 and February 28-March 1 from 12:00- 5:00 pm. The Passport Experience pass is $25.00 per person and includes complimentary tastings at participating wineries, in addition to other discounts and deals along the way.

 

28th- WINTER WINE DINNER SERIES II:  6pm:  Crow Vineyard and Molly Mason’s Chef Matt Whitehair are teaming up to bring you an elegant series of wine dinners that will be held at Molly’s Inn.  There will be three wine dinners in this series.  All dinners require reservations, seating is limited.  $90 per person. 

           

28th- SATURDAY WORKSHOP/GYM: 9AM-11AM:  Physical Education teacher Erin Kent will lead a session that will get kids moving through age-appropriate obstacle courses and exercise activities. Ages 6 & under. There is no charge and public is welcome. During program breaks the students will have access to activities in the Little School classroom and playground. Staff on hand to guide children.

1st- GARDEN PUPPET THEATRE MINI-MUSEUM EXHIBIT:  Ongoing exhibit throughout the year. Promoting the arts of puppetry and gardening in Kent County, and the Martha Washington garden at the Visitor Center located in Chestertown, at Cross & Maple Streets.

21st- SPRING FESTIVAL: 1pm-4pm:  Enjoy an afternoon of Easter egg hunts, egg decorating, pony rides, crafts and more! Special guest–THE EASTER BUNNY! All games and pictures with the Easter Bunny are included in the total cost–$7/child if registered by 4:30 p.m. March 13, $9/child if registered after . Age 12 and under. Registration begins March 1st each year. Rain date March 22.

25th- NATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL CONCERT: 7:30pm at RHVFC

 

25th- BETTERTON BEACH CLEAN-UP:  9am-12pm:  Betterton Beach.  Help clean up-coming summer season.  There will be food and beverage provided for participants following the clean-up.  Free t-shirt to volunteers register by April 11th

 

26th -  8th ANNUAL TASTE OF THE TOWN AND COUNTY-  Sample food from the area's finest restaurants and chefs. Local beer and wine will be available as well.

 

 

MAY

 

1ST - ZERBINI FAMILY CRUISE: Sponsored by the Rock Hall Lions Club, the Zerbini Family Circus is a fun filled family event, camel and pony rides a wonderfully entertaining show and much more.  Located at the Civic Center in Rock Hall. Shows starting at 5pm & 7:00pm.

2ND- : SAVAGE RACE MID-ATLANTIC:  Savage Race is an intense 5-7 mile obstacle run with 25 world class obstacles, mud, fire, and barbed wire. 2nd-  GALENA’S DOGWOOD FESTIVAL:  9am-5pm  Fun for all ages.  This is our 10th annual festival and it will take place throughout Galena.

9th- ROCK HALL GARDEN CLUB PLANT SALE:  Located on Main Street from 9:00am-12 noon.  Annual sale of home grown plants plus garden treasures and tasty baked goods. Proceeds are used for the beautification of Rock Hall.

22ND- 34TH ANNUAL KENT COUNTY SPRING FLING:  NOON-4pm:  Join the Baltimore Bicycling Club and enjoy four days cycling the lightly traveled roads of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay Eastern Shore. Rides of 11 to 100 miles meander along flat to rolling roads — through rural towns and along scenic rivers.

 

23rd- LEGION PIT BEEF SALE:  Starting at 11am on rt. 20 next to Peoples Bank.

 

23rd-  CHESTERTOWN’S TEA PARTY: Celebrating colonial resistance to British rule! Tea Toss Reenactment, Colonial Parade, Cocktail Party, Raft Race, Street Performances, Colonial Crafts, Strolling Musicians, Local Fare, 5k & 10 mile run and more! No admission for the festival, some events require tickets.

 

30th & 31st- ANNUAL ROCK HALL TRIATHALON and SPRINT:  Rock Hall Landing Marina, starting at 8am.  The Rock Hall Triathlon is nestled on the edge of the Eastern Shore of Maryland in picturesque Kent County. Only 18 miles from Baltimore “as the fish swims” (put your bike rack on a boat!) and 90 miles from Philadelphia, Rock Hall is one of the friendliest, most laid back towns anywhere…and is full of history.   International Distance: 1500 Meter Swim (bay); 24.5 Mile Bike (flat); 10K Run (flat)  Sprint Distance: 750 Meter Swim; 15 Mile Bike (flat); 5K Run (flat)

 

 

JUNE

 

5th-7th- ROCK HALL FISH TOURNAMENT: located at Bayside Park.

 

6th-  LEGION PIT BEEF SALE:  Starting at 11am on rt. 20 next to Peoples Bank.

 

6th- YOUTH FISHING DERBY: Join together with area businesses, organizations, and volunteers to teach children how to fish-not just for the sport of it, but for the family values it can instill. This special event includes prizes for casting, biggest fish of the day, biggest fish in a species and biggest fish in each age division. Free lunch and goodie bag to all registered children. Rod and reel give-away to first 75 to pre-register and arrive by 10am the day of event. Bait will be provided. $7 ($9 if registered late) Registration May 1st each year.

21ST- LOST HEROES MEMORIAL MOTORCYCLE RIDE: 10am  Ride will include 5 gravesites where a wreath will be laid. To benefit the Nick Spry Memorial Fund, helping soldier s and their families.

 

28th - BAY TO BAY RIDE:  The Chestertown Lions Club welcomes cyclists to this summer's bicycling challenge, the Bay to Bay ride. The tour consists of four routes between 27 and 104 miles in length. The flat loop routes take in scenery of the heartland of the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware. The 27 mile ride goes through historic Downtown Chestertown for those who want a less challenging ride. Registration starts at 6:30am and ride begins at 7am. 3RD-  4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS: Over the Harbor at 9pm

4th- ROCK HALL FLAT FIVE FOOT RACE:  5 mile footrace through Rock Hall Maryland starting and ending at the town's Municipal Building.

4th - FISH FRY:  RHVFC 3-7pm

 

 

5TH-  KENT COUNTY WATERMAN'S DAY: A tradition of this small fishing village, Waterman's Day celebrates the men and women of Rock Hall, who have and still do, make a living fishing local waters. Most Patriotic Work Boat Contest, Anchor Toss Contest, Work Boat Docking Contest. Cash prizes. Food, music, dunking booth and fun for the entire family. Proceeds go towards scholarship fund for a waterman's child or grandchild. Located at the Rock Hall Bulkhead.

 

 17th- CRUISE NIGHT:  Main Street 5:30-8:30 pm

 

 

18th- LEGION PIT BEEF SALE, located on Rt. 20 starting at 11am

 

 

24th &25th - BAYSHORE CAMPGROUND CONCERT WEEKEND: Bayshore Campground’s annual band weekend. This event is for campers only. This is not open to the general public.  To attend you must have a tent or RV site at Bayshore Campground, LLC.  Make your reservation soon! Spots are limited!  $40 per site for both concerts.

 

AUGUST

   

7th-9th - PIRATES & WENCHES FANTASY WEEKEND: A vast me hearties! Buccaneers and landlubbers of all ages - Come by land or come by sea to Rock Hall for a town-wide waterfront theme party you won't forget! Decorated dinghy flotilla, Caribbean beach party, Live entertainment, Pirate ship cruises, Treasure hunts, Costume contests, and much, much more fun for the whole family. Costumes are encouraged. 16th - ST. JOHN’s Bull ROAST:  Join our 61st year "Bull Roast" tradition. Old eastern shore style. All-U-Can eat, all inclusive price. 22nd - FISH FRY AT WESLEY CHAPEL:  Wesley Chapel UM Church will be hosting its 53rd annual fish fry. This year the dinner has been changed to Saturday, and serving time will be 1-6pm. This is a real Eastern Shore Fish Fry. Eat in or take out.

Part of Fall Family Weekend at Washington College, CES celebrates the Chester River and the Chesapeake Bay with the famous cardboard boat regatta, environmental displays, crafts and games, food, and live music!

 

 

OCTOBER

 

3rd - WATERMAN’s TRIATHLON FESTIVAL- HALF IRON DISTANCE:  The Maryland Triathlon Series is excited to bring another event to Kent County! We've relocated our Waterman's Triathlon, with a Half distance on Sat and a Sprint on Sun.

 

3rd- CHESTERTOWN HARRY POTTER FESTIVAL:  Grab your wand, hop on a broom and come for a weekend of magic at our second annual Chestertown Harry Potter Festival. Join us for spectacular activities and events, for children and adults – wizards and muggles alike.

 

3RD- WATERMANS TRIATHLON-HALF IRON DISTANCE:  8 am  The Watermans Half has moved to the bucollic town of Rock Hall, MD. Nestled on the edge of the Eastern Shore of Maryland in picturesque Kent County. 9th- ST.MARTIN’S MINISTRIES ARTS DINNER & AUCTION: Located at the Rock Hall Fire House.  8th annual Arts Dinner and Auction to benefit Eastern Shore neediest families. Auction (silent and live) features works of the finest local artists and other interesting, desirable offerings.

 

9th- CHESTERTOWN BLUES SERIES CONCERT:  8pm  Garfield Center for the Arts.  Featuring national touring artists. Check the website for more info closer to the event- performer TBD. Sponsored by the Eastern Shore Blues Society.

 

10th- ANNUAL ROCK HALL FALLFEST- CELEBRATING THE OYSTERS: celebrating Fall Fest in Rock Hall, the time has come to celebrate the great heritage of Rock Hall by paying homage to the mighty oyster. Rock Hall Fall Fest will remain true to its roots as a fun family festival with a fantastic kids Court, craft booths and the best music this side of the Chesapeake Bay.

23rd- 2nd ANNUAL EASTERN SHORE GUITAR FESTIVAL: Friday through Sunday.  This festival brings professional guitarists together with students of all levels for a weekend filled with workshops, master classes and concerts. In 2014, the festival was headlined by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.

 

23rd & 24th-  SPOOKWALK: Prepare to be scared! This annual spook walk is put on by the RHVFD, and starts at 7pm.

 

24TH- FALL FUN NIGHT:  6pm-8:30pm at Kent County Community Center

26TH:  ANNUAL ARTISTS STUDIO TOUR:   For a great weekend adventure take RiverArts' free annual studio tour through Chestertown and picturesque Kent and Queen Anne's Counties. You'll meet some 60 artists and artisans in their studios, learn about their techniques and treat yourself to great original art at studio prices. Stop by the RiverArts Gallery to help plan your itinerary and preview examples of each artist's work.

 

31ST- SULTANA PROJECTS DOWNRIGGING WEEKEND TALL SHIP AND WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL:  This event will continue on November 1st.   Traditional sailing vessels from around the Chesapeake will visit Chestertown to help the schooner Sultana celebrate the close of its season under sail. NOVEMBER

 

1st- RIVERARTS 16TH ANNUAL STUDIO TOUR:  10am-5pm:   n 2000, Chestertown RiverArts, formerly known as Artworks, held its first annual studio tour. Twelve artists participated that year. Over sixty artists participated in our largest ever 2014 Tour. This fascinating, free, self-guided journey will lead you to discover amazing work by artists, many of whom are known and recognized for their achievements throughout the art world. With so many artists on the tour, it is well worth a day trip to Maryland’s Eastern Shore or perhaps plan a weekend get-away.
